11 universities, 32 branches, 166 lecturers, 6 months, 132 hours.
That’s the figures I racked up for 2018/2019, thus far. Blockchain is a field that expedites everything. In my opinion, when nothing significant happens for a blockchain in half a year, it is moving too slow and soon will be played out by the market.
I started working on a training syllabus with the focus in NEM Blockchain in July 2018, got it done with content enough to run for a 3 credit hours university elective course in four months. I never knew that I can accomplish that before being thrown into this pressure cooker. It is far from perfect, I must admit. Enhancements were made along the way.
My first train-the-trainer session to the lecturers in the universities was on 19th November 2018 and my most recent session was on 18th May 2019. Exactly 6 months. Looking back, it hasn’t been a year since I dived into this field. Did I mentioned that blockchain expedites everything?!
I am a staunch believer in education. Climate change, pollutions, violence, and whatever change that we want to bring about is best to be tackled at the root cause — A proper education. Mass adoption of blockchain? No exception.
It is when one is passionate and happy at what one is doing, and be put in the right environment that the changes will be brought upon. I must said I enjoyed the past 6 months very much even if I felt I was drained to my last drop of energy after each training session. Matter of fact, I liked that feeling very much as it felt like I actually poured out what I knew to the audience. When I felt empty inside, I filled it with more knowledge.
All the universities I have trained are in the Philippines. The syllabus covers the basic of Blockchain, introduction to NEM Blockchain and hands-on practices to integrate application with NEM Blockchain. A good amount information for a novice in the field. Some universities have started offering Blockchain elective course after the trainings, some are in the pipeline in doing so. I hope I have dropped a pebble in the water.
